Automotive Seating Program Manager
Detroit Metro (BH03116)

Summary/Overview

Serves as overall facilitator for development of the product program.  Plans, directs and controls all activities relating to the PDP (APQP, SQA, Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing engineering).  Also expected to recommend, monitor and adjust appropriate plant operating procedures for the purpose of accomplishing the program requirements.  Promotes coordination and communication of program team.  Conducts all program reviews.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Lead the program team.

Manage the product program proactively to ensure timing and objectives are met

bullet

Identify and communicate impediments to the successful completion of program milestones.

bullet

Interface with required functional disciplines and departments for program support.

bullet

Assures appropriate program planning to confirm that product development is consistent with established program objectives and company needs.

bullet

Implement tenets of the Product Delivery Process (PDP) and assure completion of deliverables.

bullet

Conducts all phase and gate reviews.

bullet

Creates master program timing that satisfies customer and MIS internal requirements for product configuration, cost, performance and timing.

bullet

Facilitates Executive-Level interaction with Customer, Plant.

bullet

Coordinates and maintains communications with the customer, Systems staff and Division Operations for all program activities.

bullet

Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to the product, process and system.

bullet

Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality system.

bullet

Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.

bullet

 Verify the implementation of solutions (Quality System, Drawings & Prototype Product).

bullet

Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

Education & Skills

Bachelor’s Degree in technical engineering field preferably Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.  Non-technical four-year degree with substantial manufacturing experience are minimal requirements.  Fluent in P.C. applications for cost tracking budgeting and various spreadsheet analyses. Excellent interpersonal skills to include written and verbal communications

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years in automotive manufacturing/engineering environment with prior project team management responsibility.  Prefer exposure to both product engineering and manufacturing operations.  Work history should demonstrate problem solving and business decision making, presentational ability.
